Autumn is Upon Us

Wow....time surely zips by for me as I'm sure it does for you.

I have been extremely busy with work, the dogs, a couple movies and fixing PCs for people outside of work. I also have several web projects that need attention as well.

The election, the economy and other things have weighed heavily on my mind.

Hopefully this weekend will be my last time to mow for the season and the tractor and other lawn equipment can be readied for winter. The renter of my recreational land does small fix-it jobs for me at the house. This year he's putting more styrofoam around the house to shore it up so that no more wood is exposed. Sometimes I even wonder how the house has stood as long as it has. I have to refinance the house in December and that means I have to at least get it cleaned up because I assume that I'll need another appraisal. I still want to sell the land and be able to build new, but with the recent economic downturn, I'm not thinking that will be likely. Land values will be going down to the basement. I guess that I've lived in the house for 25 years as it is, what's another 25? At least it's a shelter for the dogs and me. Someday, I hope to have a "home of my own" for the dogs and me. I do the best that I can.

I did a good thing for me and that was to join a singles' group in Madison. It'll help me to broaden my horizons and to meet people other than the ones that I usually hang out with. The group is called Madison Dinners and Outings and we go out for dinner every Wednesday to a different location. Each week there is a new host. I have met some very nice people and a chance to network in ways that are new for me.

I have been on a reading binge - more of Robin Cook's books called, Marker, Crisis and Critical. Next up, his latest called Foreign Body. He'd better start writing more as I'm almost done reading them all. *grin*

I have also picked up a couple new books entitled, Conversations With God and Mystical, Magical and Marvelous World of Dreams. My grandmother (Nana) was fascinated with dreams and as a child I recall reading a couple books she had when we were at the shore. I also plan to grab some of the books that Dad used to read about Edgar Cayce and read them myself.

Mom, Mrs. Gaddo, Mary Rondou and I all went to see the movie The Secret Life of Bees at the former Star Cinema last Sunday. It was a great time. Lots of popcorn was consumed and I got to drive Mrs. Gaddo's tank of a car (otherwise known as a Lincoln Town Car). Man that thing was like driving a boat. *grin*

I'm probably going to go to a Halloween Party this weekend with the singles' group from Madison. I'm trying to come up with a costume and the best that I can come up with is to go as a veterinarian. I remember doing that once as a kid and I took my stuffed dog, Lassie, with me. This time, I have a stuffed Gordon Setter, named Traveler, who will go with me. I'm going to try to get a used old stethoscope from my vet clinic and I'll dress in scrubs. It should be fun!! The last time I went to a Halloween party was when I made an ET costume for a couples' bowling party almost 27 years ago.

It should be fun. Perhaps it's time to be a kid again!!
